The chief medical examiner identified the deceased man found Tuesday outside of his tent on Washington Street northbound in Auburn as 48-year-old Jaime Jimino.
Jimino, formerly of Portland, had been recently unhoused in the Auburn area, according a press release from Shannon Moss, public information officer of the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Authorities have confirmed that a small fire occurred in and around Jimino’s tent. The investigation remains active.
The final results of the cause of death is expected to take several weeks, according to the release.
“At this time, no foul play is suspected,” Moss wrote.
Jimino was found dead about 3 p.m. on Tuesday after Auburn police were sent to the area for a report of a medical emergency.
The encampment is near railroad tracks in the area of 104 Washington St. northbound. At least one tent is typically set there by groups of homeless people.
