Xander Lamppa netted a pair of goals, Ty Cheveldayoff recorded a goal and two assists, and the Maine Mariners stretched their franchise record winning streak to nine games with a 5-3 victory over the Trois-Rivières Lions in an ECHL game Friday night in Trois-Rivières, Quebec.
The Lions struck first on a goal by Mathieu Bizier 5:30 into the game, but Zach Jordan and Cheveldayoff scored in a 54-second span later in the period, giving Maine a lead it wouldn’t relinquish.
Lamppa then got his 12th and 13th goals of the season in the second period to make it 4-2, and Linus Hemstrom padded the lead early in the third.
Brad Arvanitis, the ECHL Goalie of the Month in February, made 34 saves as he improved to 16-8-3.
The Mariners moved within one point of Adirondack for second place in the North Division. Maine hosts the Thunder on Sunday afternoon, then again on Tuesday morning.
Maine played without its leading scorer, Brooklyn Kalmikov, who was promoted to the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins.
Kalmikov has 15 goals and 33 assists in 51 games this season for the Mariners. He has played three AHL games in his career, for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins as a pro rookie in 2022-23.
