Camden Hills senior Nolan Ames was named the Maine Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year on Friday.

Ames, who will play next season at Colby College, led the Windjammers to the Class A North title and averaged 26.4 points per game, including 30 points in the Windjammers’ 76-60 loss to Portland in the Class A championship game . An excellent all-around player, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 7.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.2 steals per game as Camden Hills finished 20-2.

Ames became the all-time leading scorer at Camden Hills in the A North semifinal, surpassing Jordan (Knowlton) Jones who had scored 1,532 points in her career. Ames finished with 1,585 points. Ames is the second player from Camden Hills to win the Maine Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year award, joining Tyler McFarland (2011). The award dates to 1986.

Ames was a Varsity Maine All-State selection as a junior. The 2025-26 Varsity Maine boys basketball All-State team and Player of the Year announcements are scheduled for Thursday.
