Susan Canwell
MEXICO – Susan Canwell, 71, died Thursday April 16, 2026, at her residence after a brief illness.
Susan was born in Rumford on March 5, 1955, the daughter of Norman and Paula (Thomas) Legere. She was a graduate of Mexico High School and was a self-employed cleaning lady in the area. She enjoyed the outside, especially fishing, camping and nature’s wild flowers.
She was married in Mexico on Oct. 19, 1974, to Rodney Canwell who survives in Mexico. Other survivors include sons Eric and companion Kristen Allen of Mexico, Ian and companion Rachelle Small of Mexico, and Bryan and wife Kimberlei of Wilton; her mother, Paula Legere of Mexico; grandchildren, Aleah, Landon, Mason, Hattie and Ruth Canwell; a brother, Steve Legere of Branson, Mo.; a special nephew, Jeffrey Blanchard; as well as cousins Sandy Evans of Salem, Ore., Paul Thomas of Lewiston, Kathy McKenna of Peru, Pauline Thomas of Mexico, and Stormy Cogley of Roxbury.
Predeceased by her father, Norman Legere; and special niece, Kelly Blanchard.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Hall, Congress Street in Rumford on Friday May 1, from 3 to 9 p.m.
