Gov. Janet Mills’ veto on the moratorium for data centers was a major disappointment. Her focus and concern for Jay’s need for employment seems to have determined her decision. Data centers employ many people during construction. Once completed, employment drops drastically.
So, is the environmental blight, with destruction of land and water, etc., worth a brief lift to Jay’s community? I think not. And, I am more than “concerned” that Gov. Mills’ veto on a moratorium for the construction of data centers opens the door to more centers and environmental destruction in Maine.
