PORTLAND — The Maine Lobster Promotion Council has named Rachel LeGloahec of Lisbon Falls this year’s recipient of an endowed scholarship designed to support Maine students attending The Culinary Institute of America.

The CIA is a private, nonprofit, college with a main campus in Hyde Park, N.Y.

LeGloahec’s penchant for hard work and cooking has made her the ideal candidate for both attendance at the CIA and this year’s scholarship. By awarding Maine students with these scholarships, the Maine Lobster Promotion Council is creating opportunity for those aspiring to pursue a career in different areas of the culinary arts field.

LeGloahec’s professional culinary aspirations began in the dining room of The Haraseeket Inn in Freeport. She spent the summer before her studies commenced there, and admired the passion for food the hotel possessed.

With help from The Maine Lobster Promotion Council, LeGloahec is studying marketing and promoting food, accounting, budget management and computers in the food business. She is scheduled to graduate on Nov. 11.
