POLAND — Residents will get a chance to question office seekers in several town races in a Monday night candidates forum meant to help voters make their decisions in the April 1 municipal election.
The forum is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Poland Town Office conference room.
Each candidate will be given the chance to make an opening statement before answering questions, both from a live audience and from viewers of a live public access channel telecast.
In all, voters will be asked to fill eight seats on local boards. Some will be competitive.
The three-way race for the Board of Selectmen’s single open seat is among Norman Davis, Arthur Dunlap and Stephen Robinson. The term is for three years.
Another contest has four people — Joseph Parent, Edward Rabasco, George Sanborn and Ervin Walker — vying for two three-year terms on the RSU 16 Board of Directors.
Unopposed seats include the three people running for three seats on the library board of trustees: Nancy Norton and Cathy Tetenman for two three-year terms and Sara Willett for a two-year term.
There are currently no candidates for two open seats on the Budget Committee.
The forum is sponsored by Friends of Ricker Library.
Information about the candidates forum and the town meeting, scheduled for 9 a.m. April 2 at the Poland Regional High School auditorium, is available on the town of Poland website at www.polandtownoffice.org.
