Richard Paul Labonte
LEWISTON – Richard Paul Labonte, 83, of Lewiston and Minot, Maine, died July 18, 2021, at his oldest sons’ home, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. Richard was born in Auburn July 27, 1937, the son of Arthur and Henriette Labonte. He was educated at St. Francis High School in Biddeford and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1957. Richard was formerly married to Claudette Anne Simard, the mother of his three sons. Richard worked for many years in the grocery industry, beginning with L/A Grocers, Food Town, and retiring from Shaw’s Supermarket after fifteen years of being a deli manager. During his retirement he worked part time for Service Master for ten years. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Louis and Sacred Heart Churches. In his early adult days, he was an avid fisherman. He was also very competitive during his pigeon racing days. Labo’s Loft” was in the winners circle rather often and one of his pride and joys. You could find pops walking and sunbathing at Popham Beach, he was a true sun fanatic. He loved his Patriots and took forever to give Brady his due. He thought Drew Bledsoe was awesome. He especially enjoyed his family. His three sons, grand and great grandchildren. Richard is survived by Michael and wife Amanada of Lewiston, Mark Labonte of LaMesa, California and David and wife Michelle of Wales, his five grandchildren, John Labonte and wife Jessica of Tilton, NH, Joshua Labonte and wife Candace of Minot, Davey Labonte and wife Katie, of Portland, Oregon, Greg Labonte and fiance Dawna Daigle of Gorham and Ashlee Labonte of Palm Bay, Florida. Also a super special spot in his heart for the eight great grandchildren, Ja’Kobe, Annabelle, Corinne, Harmony, Alexandra, Charlie, Parker and Milo. He is also survived by special friends, Phil Cantin, Marilyn Beauparlant and Anne Pontbriand. Richard was predeceased by his parents as well as his brothers, Frank, Wilfred, Youville and sister Yolande. The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice, especially Staci and Steve for all their wonderful Heartfelt time and care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on August 2 at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 24 Sacred Heart Place, Auburn. Online condolences may be sent to http://www.funeralalternatives.net.
