David R. Frechette

LEWISTON – David R. Frechette, 90, went home to be with his Lord and family members he has missed so much, especially his Mother, Germaine. He passed peacefully in his home, as he so desired to do, on Sunday, July 18, 2021. He was born in Lewiston, on March 7, 1931, to the late Arthur and Germaine Frechette. He graduated in 1949 from St. Dom’s and attended Assumption College. He then joined the US Navy. Upon his return, he worked for the US Postal Service in Washington, D.C., and later for Hall and Knight in Lewiston until his Retirement. He lived with and helped care for his mom until she passed at home at the age of 90. He often expressed that he wanted to live to be 90 like her and then immediately join her again. Thankfully, his wish was granted. He was predeceased by his siblings Jeanne D’Arc Caron, Therese Landry, Aldea Breton, Bert Frechette, Andre Frechette, Germain “Chuck” Frechette. “Uncle Dave” as he was affectionately referred to not only by his family, but by many friends of his family members, loved to travel with his Mother and siblings. He enjoyed trips to Old Orchard Beach, Canada, The Islands, England, Germany and Paris. Later in life you would find him enjoying his screened in porch, going to lunch with his special friend Rose and laughing with his good friend Gerry and nephew Marc. He enjoyed visits from his family and following the adventures of his nieces’ and nephews’ families. If the TV was on, he’d likely be following the Bruins, enjoying the music of Lawrence Welk or attending Mass on Sunday mornings. Dave was a devout Catholic and a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Parish. Marc wants to extend a very special and heartfelt appreciation to Jennifer and Staff of Elite Homecare in Buckfield, Maine. Each person had a genuine and dedicated concern for Uncle Dave’s well-being and treated him as if he was one of their own. He also sends a thank you to the CMMC nursing staff and the Androscoggin Hospice team who managed his care to keep him comfortable. You are invited to share your condolences and fond memories with the family by visiting their guest book at http://www.thefortingrouplewiston.com Visitation will be held Thursday July 22, at The Fortin Group Lewiston starting at 3pm to 6pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Basilica upper church on Friday July 23rd at 11am with a committal following at St. Peter’s cemetery in the small chapel.
