Jacky Hebert, left, and Coleen Daskoski, both of Auburn, wait for the Quit and Win tobacco cessation program to start at Bates College on Tuesday. Hebert, a former two-pack-a-day smoker who has been tobacco-free for more than two months, said she was participating because her mother died from complications of tobacco. “That really scared me and I don’t want to go back, and I am saving more than $10 a day,” she said. Daskoski, a nonsmoker, has been helping Hebert with her tobacco-free effort. The Quit and Win program is sponsored by Healthy Androscoggin.
