Class to meet

RUMFORD — The Mexico High School Class of 1959 is invited to meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Brian’s Bistro.

Class luncheon

MEXICO — Members of the Stephens High School Class of 1952 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, at the Mexico Chicken Coop for luncheon. Guests are welcome.

Pre-kindergarten

RUMFORD — Children who will be age 4 on or before Oct. 15, 2011, and live in the Mountain Valley Region (Rumford, Mexico, Hanover, Roxbury, Byron) are eligible for the RSU 10 pre-kindergarten program.

Applications will be available starting Monday, April 25, at Meroby and Rumford Elementary School (Dirigo Region). It is a first-come, first-served placement. For more information, call the Meroby office at 364-3715 .

Lodge session

RUMFORD — Blazing Star Lodge 30, AF and AM, Route 232, Rumford Corner, will hold its first stated meeting of the year on Wednesday, April 6.

A 6:30 p.m. supper will be followed by the lodge opening at 7:30. All members are urged to attend.

Red Hat Mommas

MEXICO — The Red Hat Mommas of Western Maine held their March meeting at the Green Church with 28 in attendance. The teapot exchange was made and the birthdays were celebrated.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 13, at the Rooster’s Roadhouse in Bethel. The price is $15.95. A head count and food selection is needed. If interested, call Sue at 364-8185 by Thursday, April 7. Members will meet at Marden’s parking lot at 5:15 p.m. to car pool.

A free Red Hat zumba class will be offered from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. Monday, April 11, at the old Peru School. Members should wear red workout gear.

Elks fish fry

RUMFORD — Rumford Lodge of Elks will hold a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 8. Chef Bill Murphy’s menu will consist of beer-batter haddock, fries, coleslaw and tarter sauce. The price is $10. The supper is open to the public. Take-out orders will be available by calling Bill at 364-3648 or the lodge at 364-4022.

Comedy show

MEXICO — Dinner and an improv comedy show by Teacher’s Lounge Mafia will be held on Saturday, April 9, at Mountain Valley Middle School, 58 Highland Terrace. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and the show will be at 7. Admission is $10. The show contains mature content.

Tickets are available at RSU 10 central offices, MVMS and Carlisle. Proceeds will benefit RSU 10 WFKA-Afterschool Program Scholarship Fund.

Hypnotist to appear

RUMFORD — Hypnotist Joe DeVito will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at American Legion Post 24. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. A dance will follow from 9 to 11 p.m.

Tickets are $15 per person. You must be 21 years or older. Tickets are available at American Legion. For more information, call 369-9053.

Seniors trips

RUMFORD — Upcoming trips for Rumford Senior Citizens include Stars on Ice on Friday, April 8. The bus will leave at 3 p.m. The cost is $55 and supper will be at Cole Farms.

A five-day Cape Cod trip will be held from May 9 to 13 at a cost of $419. A $75 deposit is needed. The bus will leave the Senior Center at 8 a.m.

The bus for the shopping trip to Portland on May 12 is full. A bus will leave for Bangor Slots at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 19, for a cost of $25.

The TRIAD picnic will be held Friday, June 24, at Fryeburg Fairgrounds. The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. It is a free trip for members.

The new hours at the Senior Center are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday. Bingo is played on Tuesday afternoons.
