DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for a new chimney sweep because the man I have used for many years is retiring. I’d like recommendation from other readers. — Christine, no town

ANSWER: You can also go to the Maine chapter of the Chimney Safety Institute of America (https://web.csia.org/CSIA-Certified/Maine) and type in your ZIP code. There, you will see a list for chimney sweeps in your area along with their contact information. There is also an email form on the site so you can contact them.

Meanwhile, readers, please make recommendations.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Before I close my camp for the winter, I’d like to get some screens repaired. They go to the slider deck doors and were ripped by my grandson’s dog so he said he would pay to have them replaced if needed.

This is our first summer in Maine so I’m not familiar who would be good for this job.

I really have enjoyed Sun Spots! — George, Greene

ANSWER: In the Rolodex, I have Drillen Hardware at 1086 Sabattus St. (783-4600); Galaxy Glass at 799 Main St. (786-0709 and 1-800-339-4721); and Portland Glass at 865 Lisbon St. (250-5965).

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for an independent drum teacher in the Lewiston-Auburn area. My son started with someone who is no longer teaching, and I cannot afford the professional fee of a teacher affiliated with a studio. Perhaps you have someone in your Rolodex. — Shannon, no town

ANSWER: I suggest you contact Josh Caron through Main Street Music Lessons in Auburn (mainstreetmusiclessons.com, 376-3376). He teaches drum lessons and may know of others in his musical network.

Another idea would be to put the word out at the area high school where upperclassmen may welcome the opportunity to mentor your son. You also may want to try doing the same by contacting the music department at Bates College (bates.edu/music/) or the University of Southern Maine (https://usm.maine.edu/music).

Readers, if you know a drum instructor ready to take on a student or you have this expertise yourself, please write in.
