FARMINGTON — An all-terrain vehicle taken from Madore’s Market parking lot in West Farmington on Tuesday night was recovered Thursday from the Whistle Stop Trail.
The older model three-wheeler was parked in Madore’s lot at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The owner left it there and went to work. When he returned Wednesday morning it was gone.
Officers from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department used the department’s ATV Thursday to search the trail near the market and beside C.N. Brown.
They found the stolen ATV turned over a short distance in on the trail, she said. A winch was used to right the vehicle, and the owner came to pick it up, Police Department secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.
Farmington police continue to follow leads on the ATV stolen from Titcomb Mountain Ski Area that same night, Pomeroy said. Police have received a few calls from people who realized they may have seen the Titcomb Mountain ATV on the Morrison Hill Road.
Someone broke into Titcomb Mountain Ski Area after 9 p.m. Tuesday and drove the ATV out to Morrison Hill Road.
The ski area is a couple of miles from the market, but whether the two incidents are related hasn’t been determined, Pomeroy said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the department at 778-6311.
