TURNER — Adult Education Classes at SAD 52 in May include parenting instruction and learning southern-style barbecue skills.

SAD 52 Adult and Community Education is offering Adult, Child and Infant CPR & First Aid starting May 2. Receive the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses. Topics covered will include choking, breathing and cardiac emergencies for victims of all ages.

Learn how to discipline children without arguing, yelling or spanking in a class titled 1, 2, 3 Magic, beginning May 3. Control obnoxious behavior and encourage good behavior and strengthen your own relationship with your child. This course is geared to parents with children ages 2-12.

Beginner Golf starts May 9 and is a fun introduction to golf, with six clinics covering the short game, long game, rules and course etiquette. Learn techniques to make you more comfortable on the course. Intermediate Golf begins May 12 and will help you improve your performance.

Another session of Make Your Clothes Fit will be held May 10 and 12. Learn how to save your wardrobe from an experienced tailor and dressmaker. Bring two or three projects to work on.

A Motorcycle Safety Education class will also be held on May 10 and 12. Upon completion of this 8-hour class, students receive a certificate which grants them a state of Maine permit.

Reiki Level II participants learn symbols, in Absentia (long distance) healing and receive a second attunement that increases their channeling ability. This class takes place May 12.

Notary Public Training classes begin May 16 for two weeks. Subjects include qualification, procedures, power and duties, history and legislation as well as weddings. State exam provided and taken during class.

Meeting Your Spirit Guide will be held May 26. Receive guidance and support leaving you with a sense of connection and comfort.

And, finally, get ready for the warm weather barbecue season with three classes.  Class size is limited, so sign up early.

Barbecue Basics takes place May 11. Learn the basics of southern style barbecue including smokers, sauces and rubs. Make your own sauce to take home.

“WICKED” Southern Style BBQ-Bacon Explosion will be held May 18. Step into the bold, smokey world of the Southern Style Barbecue with a Maine flair. Learn about making meat rubs and create one of your own. See how to make Big Tug’s own Bacon Explosion and enjoy the “meats” of your labors.

“WICKED” Barbeque Ribs is a class on Saturday, May 21. Have lunch, learn about and make some traditional barbecue side dishes, then enjoy them with a quarter rack of tender, succulent BBQ ribs. Check out smokers and learn how to build your own.
