Emerson W. Dinsmore
AUBURN – Emerson W. Dinsmore, 96, passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022 at Clover Health Care. Emerson was born in Calais on Nov. 10, 1925, son of Sidney S. Dinsmore and Gladys (Grant) Dinsmore.
Emerson’s first job was plowing the sidewalks of Calais with a horse drawn plow before he went to school in the mornings. After graduating from high school, he served in the Maine State Guard and worked for Railway Express, Central Maine Railroad, served as a Calais Police Officer, and retired in 1988 from Eastern Maine Electric Co-Op. Emerson was a hard worker, often holding two and three jobs. In July of 1947, he married Dorothy M. Tyler and together they raised six children. Emerson was a wonderful, kind loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents, Emerson was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy; son Emerson Dinsmore; daughter Barbara Dinsmore; granddaughter Pamela Dinsmore; brother Donald Dinsmore; and his sister Pearl Boardman. Surviving are his children, Frank Dinsmore and wife Laurel of Oxford, Donald Dinsmore of Calais, Carl Dinsmore and wife Jane of Auburn, and Mary Murray and husband Randy of Turner; granddaughters, Marie Montalvo, Jennifer Dinovelli, and Melissa Grant; and his great-grandson Frankie Grant.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Calais Cemetery in Calais.
