Gloria Dorion Shaw

RUMFORD – Gloria Dorion Shaw, 92, passed away Sunday March 13, 2022, at the Rumford Community Home in Rumford.Born in Rumford, on July 31, 1929 she was a daughter of Joshua and Olive (Doucette) Dorion. Gloria was a graduate of Stephens High School class of 1949. Gloria was married in Mexico, ME on October 31, 1954 to Lawrence Shaw who survives of Rumford. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a housewife for many years raising her family of 5 boys and 1 daughter. Afterwards she worked as a clerk at LaVerdiere’s and the Rumford Social Security Office. She loved Jesus and went on several missionary trips with her husband including Honduras and China to share the gospel of Christ with others. She made quilts for many family members and friends as well as many knitting, crocheting, and sewing projects. She was a great cook and party planner and she loved pretty dishes for her table settings. She taught Sunday School for many years at the Church of Good News and could organize church suppers and outings with the best of them. She loved spending time every summer for forty years at the coast with the family, especially Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and New Harbor, ME. She loved spending time with her family most of all and her eyes would light up when she saw her grandchildren. She is also survived by her sons, Larry Shaw and wife Liz of Indiana, Steve Shaw and wife Sandy of Sabattus, Jonathan Shaw and companion Natasha Hansen of AZ, Christopher Shaw and wife Ronda of Rumford, her daughter, Mary Bradley and companion Todd Wardwell of Mexico, a brother David Dorion and wife June of Bath, sisters, Anne Smith of CT and Grace Corlett and husband Bob of Canada, 8 grandchildren Dave, Andy, Craig, Matt, Liz, Dalton, Michelle, Kevin and 4 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Cidney, Noah, and Jaidyn, sisters-in-law Maggie Lockhart of MD and Betty Ann Damon and husband Gene of VA, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Charles, her parents, a brother Gerard and a great-grandson Nicholas Shaw. Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Thursday March 17, 2022 at the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford, ME with Pastor Justin Thacker officiating. Interment in the spring will be in the Farrington Morton Cemetery in Mexico. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home from 4-7 PM Wednesday.
