PARIS — Maddy Miller pitched a shutout for Oxford Hills in its 2-0 softball win over Hampden Academy on Saturday.

Miller struck out eight batters and scattered six hits.

The Vikings (4-0) only recorded one hit but generated enough offense to back up Miller’s stellar outing. In the fifth inning, Kayden Morse was hit by a pitch and later reached third base on a bunt by Chloe Estes. Liz Dieterich laid down another bunt to bring home Morse and give Oxford Hills a 1-0 lead.

Miah Gallon scored on an error in the sixth to add an insurance run.

Gallon also helped out on defense. With the bases loaded in the top of the third, Gallon, playing center field, caught a fly ball and then threw to second base for a double play. Miller got out of the inning by forcing a groundout to second baseman Gigi DeVivo.

Cam Neal had a double and a single for the Broncos (0-1), and Danielle Masterman added two singles. Masterman also pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts.

TELSTAR SWEEPS BUCKFIELD: Clutch hits by Sarah Chase and Makenzie Eliot secured a sweep for the Rebels (2-2) against the Bucks (1-3) in a tightly contested doubleheader in Bethel.

Eliot drove in the game-winning run that gave Telstar a 10-9 win in the opener.

Natasha Mason, who was the winning pitcher, scored three runs and had two hits. Macie Hallett also notched two hits and scored three times, and she stole three bases.

Abigail Prokey, Cora Brewster, Emma Stevens-Belanger, who pitched a complete game, and Kayden Haylock all notched multiple hits for Buckfield.

Chase had the game-winning it in the second game, as the Rebels came from behind to win 12-10 in extra innings.

Hallett, Eliot and Payton Berry each had multiple hits, while Katie Evans and Karen Marshall also had hits. Hallett stole six bases, giving her nine in the two games combined.

Freshman pitcher Maylan Hastings went the distance for the Rebels, earning her first career victory.

Crockett pitched all seven innings for the Bucks. Crockett, Haylock and Amelia Hill each had multiple hits for Buckfield.

LEWISTON 9, BREWER 4: Ahna Dostie’s grand slam highlighted an eight-run third inning that propelled the Blue Devils (1-2) past the Witches (1-3) in Lewiston.

Brooklyn Mynahan pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for Lewiston. She also recorded a team-high three hits, while Makenzie Anderson and Aubrey Peer contributed two hits each.

Jordan Doak finished with a pair of hits and Jadien Williams doubled for Brewer, which scored three runs in the second and held a 3-1 lead before Lewiston’s big third inning.

LEAVITT, LINCOLN SPLIT: Abby Albert held Lincoln Academy to one hit — a leadoff single by Payson Kaler — and Leavitt scored five runs in the first inning to earn a 5-0 victory in the first game of a doubleheader in Newcastle.

Lily Chabot hit a triple and a single for the Hornets. Sara Perkins had two singles.

In Game 2, Grace Houghton allowed two hits in Lincoln’s 2-0 victory.

Lincoln (2-1) scored in the first and third innings.

Hailey Turcotte went the distance for Leavitt (2-3), allowing four hits. Albert had a double for the Hornets.

LISBON 12, CARRABEC 3: Erica Hill struck out 14 batters in the Greyhounds’ (1-0) win over the Cobras (0-1) in Lisbon.

Brook Norman had a triple and a double and drove in a run in for Lisbon, which bolted ahead with an eight-run third inning. Emily Libby, Sophie Maloy, Alivia Field and Marina Davis each hit a double, and Maria Levesque had two singles and two RBIs.

Shyanne Holms had two doubles for Carrabec. She also pitched and struck out eight while allowing only two walks.

MONMOUTH 5, OAK HILL 0: Brooklyn Federico struck out 10 and only allowed two hits in the Mustangs’ (3-0) win over the Raiders (1-2) in Wales.

Monmouth scored one run in the top of the third inning and another in top of the sixth, the pulled away by scoring three times in the seventh.

Rileigh Chase had two hits and two RBIs for the Mustangs, while June Voit had two hits and a RBI.

Pitcher Kelsey Young had a double for Oak Hill.

SKOWHEGAN 23, MT. BLUE 0, 5 INN.: Sierra Carey had three hits and pitched five perfect innings to lead the River Hawks to the victory in Skowhegan.

Carey struck out eight in the circle in addition to collecting three singles. Jaycie Christopher had a double and two singles, Riley Fitzpatrick had two hits, and Emily Dunbar, Carlie Jarvais and Annabelle Morris had doubles.

GIRLS LACROSSE
EDWARD LITTLE 8, MCI/NOKOMIS 1: Megan Lachance led the Red Eddies (2-2) with three goals in their win over MCI/Nokomis (0-2) in Auburn.

Stella Smith added two goals and Caroline Audette scored one in the win. Goalie Hailee Brown stopped seven shots in goal for Edward Little.

Edward Little also won the JV game between the teams, 10-0.

“Two great team wins today,” Red Eddies coach Shaun McKinnon said. “I gave the girls a challenge after our game on Monday (a loss to Oxford Hills) to finish the week off with two wins and they did. Winning two games in a row and getting to 2-2 heading into May is a huge accomplishment especially in Class A North. I am so proud of this team.”

CAMDEN HILLS 10, LEWISTON 7: The Windjammers (1-1) rallied back in the second half to take down the Blue Devils (1-2) in Lewiston.

Lewiston led 6-4 at halftime before being outscored by Camden Hills 6-1 in the second half.

Lucy Cohen and Lila Hall each had three goals in the game for the Windjammers. Lea Zeuker added a goal and two assists and Jaden Johnson one goal and one assist. Britta Denny and Georgia Heintzman also scored for Camden, and goalie Roo Boetsch stopped four shots.

Rebecca Lussier, Lily Gish and Mya Grant each had two goals and an assist for Lewiston. Leah Landry also found the back of the net, and Kristen Lachance assisted on a goal. Elaina Gendron and Olivia Crowley combined to make four saves.

BASEBALL
LISBON 10, CARRABEC 0: Mason Booker and Levi Tibbetts combined to throw a no-hitter as the Greyhounds (2-0) shut out the Cobras (0-3) in a five-inning MVC tilt in Lisbon.

Booker pitched the first four innings, striking out eight and walking four. Tibbetts tossed the final frame, striking out three batters.

Tibbetts also went 3 for 3 at the plate, smacking a triple and collecting four RBIs. Hunter Brissette had a triple and a double while scoring three runs and driving in another, and Caleb Phillips — who caught all five innings — had two hits and one RBI of his own.

Luke Carey, Conner Peabody and Nate Caldwell combined to pitch for Carrabec, with Peabody and Carey splitting the catching duties. The three pitchers combined for five strikeouts.

OXFORD HILLS 14, HAMPDEN 4: The Vikings (3-1) scored 10 runs on nine hits in the first two innings en route to a five-inning mercy rule win over the Broncos (1-3) in Paris.

Pitcher Wyatt Knightly earned the win, giving up one earned run, scattering three hits and striking out six.

Kolby Brown led Oxford Hills’ offense with three hits and an RBI. Andrew Merrill contributed two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Knightly and Matt Doucette each had two hits and an RBI. Nick Binette also had two hits, while Eli Soehren hit a triple and Hunter Tardiff had a double.

Logan Burns had an RBI double in the second inning for Hampden Academy.

BOYS LACROSSE
MARSHWOOD 15, OXFORD HILLS 0: Kevin Cougler tallied four goals and an assist, and Tommy Demeroto and Andrew Goodwin each contributed three goals and three assists to lead the Hawks (1-1) past the Vikings (1-3) at South Berwick.

Aidan Sullivan and Declan Fitzgerald added two goals apiece. Ty Cougler also scored.

LEWISTON 10, BANGOR 7: Cody Dionne netted a hat trick and Colton Daniels and Daven Langelier notched a goal and two assists apiece as the Blue Devils (3-1) downed the Rams (1-3) in Lewiston.

Eli Bigelow scored two goals for Lewiston, Jackson Bement had a goal and an assist and Liam Hutchinson and Sam Courtemanche each added goals. Cooper Kearns made six saves for the win.

Jack Johnson tallied a game-high four goals for Bangor, to go along with an assist. Miles Randall had two goals and two assists, Cooper Ireland scored a goal and Josh Ryan notched an assist. Matt Shayne stopped 12 shots in the Bangor net.
