LIVERMORE FALLS — Sunday morning was wet, drizzly and cold as we arrived at the church parking area. Once inside, it was warm and noisy with cheery chatter and welcoming hugs and smiles. Maggie Houlihan played sweet and comforting hymns on the pipe organs as people took their seats.

At 10:30 a.m., Kay King-Watson gave the welcome and announcements:

1. Rev. Thayer has a podcast online. Go to the website: www.ubctopsham.org, check on Podcast and choose the one you want. The most recent one is titled, :The Gospel of John”. This is a wonderful Bible Study for the summer.

2. This month, we are collecting canned fruit for the Food Cupboard, and in July, we’ll collect canned pasta.

3. The Festival Committee meetings are growing more and more enthusiastic as we plan for July 16th. There will be a Bouncy House, games, hot dogs, popcorn, a pie raffle, a baked goods table, a puppet show and entertainment provided by singer and guitarist, Don Emery and wife, Heidi Emery. Don’t miss the fun

4. The next Soap ‘n More Store will be open o , Proverbs 3:n June 25th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

5. Our next Hymn Sing will take place on June 26th at 7 p.m.

Rev. Thayer read scripture, Proverbs 3:11-12 for the Call to Worship. Kay Kin-Watson lead the Congregation as we sang two Praise Songs: Lead Me Lord and Be Exalted, O God. Kay spoke to us about One Great Hour of Sharing during the Mission Moment. At Prayer Time, we shared prayers for many members of families and friends who are ill or need prayers for other reasons. as well as playing for the Praise Songs and Hymns, Maggie and Margaret played for our Hymns: Praise the Lord. Ye Heavens Adore Him, Faith of Our Fathers, and He Has Made Me Glad. Special Music, All That Thrills My Soul, was sung by Rick Merrill.

Scripture from Matthew 5:17-20, was read by Dianne Hirsh. Rev. Thayer’s Sermon was titled, “Sermon On the Mount – What Is Right?”. He talked to us about the Ten Commandments. He told us that Jesus loved people, not rules and laws.

When Jesus talked about the Ten Commandments, he looked at them as principles that help to give us better lives. Mercy, kindness, love for your fellow man and woman, and respect for all must always be in your heart. , and Rev. Thayer closed his sermon with these words: “Live kindly, joyfully, and loving God.”
