AUBURN — As Clover Health Care prepares to embrace a completely smoke-free campus in July, the company recently kicked off its first Employee Health and Wellness Fair designed to introduce its staff to the wide range of services, resources and opportunities for healthier living within the community.

Clover would like to thank all the area businesses and organizations that contributed to the success of the fair, including Androscoggin Humane Society, The Bread Shack, Healthy Androscoggin, Chill Yoga, Wei-Li Chinese Restaurant, Rainbow Bikes, Lynn Poor and Margie Hatch, certified Reflexologists, YMCA, Ann’s Flower Shop, Tyson Sharlow, Chiropractor, ZUMBA instructor, Heather Hill, Planet Fitness, Beltone, Wellspring, The Dempsey Center, Medicine Shoppe, Herbal Life, MEMIC, Axis and Bangor Savings Bank.

The event featured facial, neck and shoulder massages, as well as reflexology sessions. Exercise demonstrations included Zumba and line dancing by the Continuum Line Dancers.

The fair was a collaborative effort of a group of Clover employees forming Clover’s first wellness committee. Administrator Cynthia Quinlan says, “The group recognized a person’s true well-being encompasses not only the physical aspects of his or her life. There must be balance emotionally, financially and nutritionally as well. It took weeks and hours of consideration and planning to create a fair that would strike the right balance in a fun, creative, celebratory environment.”

Clover Health Care staffs 280 employees and the fair reflected more than half of Clover’s employees, along with many residents, in attendance. Other wellness initiatives have included salad bar luncheons, healthy snack giveaways and on-site exercise opportunities. The Wellness Fair was the committee’s largest effort to date.
