BRIDGTON — The Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club is hosting its 23rd annual Great Bridgton Duck Race on Monday, July 4 at 11:30 a.m. at the Stevens Brook bridge on Main Street, Bridgton. Rotarians are selling tickets outside Reny’s Department Store on weekends, at Music on Main, at the fireworks on Sunday evening at Stevens Brook Elementary School, and on the day of the race on Main Street. At $5 each or 5 for $20, Rotarians are able to raise about 30 percent of the funds needed for scholarships, community suppers, and other projects addressing the needs of veterans, children, and the food insecure. Winners of the Duck Race receive prizes in the amount of $500, 1st prize; $250, 2nd prize; and $100, 3rd prize. Reach out to a Rotarian for your tickets.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
