AUBURN — BT Yarders jumped to 4-0 on the season with two Auburn men’s softball wins Tuesday night.
Yarders outlasted Gippers in a wild one, 15-14. With his team down two runs in the fourth inning, Jason Parkin ripped a 3-run homer to give Yarders a 6-5 lead. Gippers rallied in the sixth for eight runs, but Yarders fired back in the bottom of the inning with seven of their own to take a 14-13 lead going into the seventh.
Gippers tied it up to go into extra innings, but Stevie Curtis scored the run in the bottom of the ninth for Yarders to provide the victory. Curtis and Heath Crocker led BT with 3 hits each. Dan Dostie was the winning pitcher.
In the nightcap, Hartt Transportation tried its luck against the Yarders but fell short, 10-6.
Hartt got off to an early 5-4 lead after two innings. Yarders rallied with a 3-run homer from Bob Martin to claim an 8-5 lead in the third inning.
Brian Harvey, Curtis, Kyle Cyr and Crocker all tallied two hits. Dostie again got the win.
NAPA takes two
AUBURN — NAPA Autp Parts extended its record to 3-0 with two wins at Lakeview Field in Auburn Rec Players League men’s softball.
In the first game, NAPa took down Gnome Landscaping, 16-8. The bats started slowly, with NAPA only scoring three runs in the first three innings while the defense gave up four runs to Gnome.
The offense came to life in the bottom of the fourth. NAPA scored three runs, then added seven more in the fifth and three in the sixth to put the game out of reach.
Peter Boyd went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and 3 RBIs to lead NAPA. Kevin Pontbriand, Dave Langlois and Kris Gilhooly eached chipped in with 3-for-4 performances. Pontbriand scored three times, while Langlois and Gilhooly each had a double and 3 RBIs. Langlois also scored three times, while Gilhooly added one run.
In their second throwdown, NAPA put away the Outlaws, 9-3, behind some timely hitting and some stellar defense.
NAPA scored in every inning but the fifth en route to the victory. Clay Phillips and Andy Ouellette each went 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for NAPA. Anthony Clark was 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI, while Sean Collins went 2-for-3 with a run scored, a double, a triple, and 3 big RBIs. Peter Boyd, Kasey Clark and Terry Goguen each chimed in with 2-for-3 performances with a run scored, with Goguen also tacking on an RBI.
Knockers roll in Co-Rec
AUBURN — NAPA’s Knockers co-ed softball team won its second game of the season, 12-7, over Carlton Club.
NAPA’s bats started slow, with three straight outs in the top of the first, and NAPA allowed two runs in the bottom of the frame. The Knockers jumped on top with a huge seven-run inning in the top of the second and never looked back, scoring three more in the top of the sixth and two in the seventh.
