HAMPDEN — Jerome E. Peters, 93, died at his Hampden residence in the presence of his loving family on June 30, just nine hours shy of his 94th birthday.
He was born in Fort Fairfield, July 1, 1917, the youngest son of Archie and Catherine (McLaughlin) Peters.
He attended local schools, graduating from Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1934. On Nov. 6, 1946, he married Marguerite Van Buskirk. He was a potato farmer on the family farm for 50 years retiring in 1984. He moved to Hampden in 1994 to be near his family.
Jerome is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marguerite (Van Buskirk) Peters; his daughters, Cynthia, Ruth, Mary and Joan; son, Alan and his wife, June; grandson, Ryan and his wife, Heather; granddaughters, Sarah and Lynn; great-grandson, Jacob; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jerome was predeceased by his parents; three sons, Richard, Michael, baby boy Peters; five brothers; and a sister.
