Miah Gallan scored Oxford Hills’ first goal and assisted on its second as the second-seeded Vikings eliminated seventh-seeded Brewer with a 3-0 victory in Tuesday’s Class A North quarterfinal at Gouin Athletic Complex.

Sierra Carson fed Gallan for the opening goal eight minutes into the game. Then, in the second quarter, Gallan took a penalty corner insertion from Carlee-Mae Cash and sent it to Ali Slicer for Oxford Hills’ (12-2-1) second goal and a 2-0 lead.

Carson scored an unassisted goal later in the second to round out the scoring. Goalie Gabby Wright stopped both shots she faced to secure the shutout for the Vikings.

Emma Look made 11 saves for Brewer (7-8), which shut out Oxford Hills in the second half thanks in part to the defensive effort of Jordin Williams and Allie Flagg.

LEAVITT 1, YARMOUTH 0: The fourth-seeded Hornets (12-3) finally broke through in the fourth quarter and edged the No. 5 Clippers (8-7) in Turner to earn a spot in the Class B South semifinals.

Leavitt dominated play from midway through the first period. The Hornets outshot Yarmouth 17-2 and had 17 penalty corners to Yarmouth’s one, but they struggled to finish their scoring opportunities.

The Hornets kept up the pressure and finally capitalized in the fourth when Jazzlynn Clark took a cross from Cierra Barker and fired the ball into the cage for the only goal of the game.

Yarmouth goalie Quincy Schnee finished with 16 saves. Leavitt’s Lily Chabot turned away both shots she faced.

Leavitt will face the winner of Wednesday’s game between No. 1 York (13-1) and No. 9 Morse (4-11) in the semifinals later this week.

GIRLS SOCCER
BUCKFIELD 3, PINE TREE ACADEMY 0: Mya Austin had a goal and an assist as the No. 3 Bucks (8-5-2) beat the No. 6 Breakers (3-4-3) in a Class D South quarterfinal in Buckfield.

Austin first fed Kai Trenoweth for the opening goal, then scored a goal off an assist from Madison Turcotte. Cora Brewster made it 3-0 for Buckfield by converting a penalty kick.

Goalie Kianna Finnegan made one save for Buckfield, and Paige Tryson stopped 17 shots for Pine Tree Academy.

The Bucks next face second-seeded Richmond (11-4) later this week in the semifinals.

MT. BLUE 3, BREWER 0: KK Daggett’s two goals led the way as the fourth-seeded Cougars (12-2-1) advanced to the A North semifinals by ousting the fifth-seeded Witches (7-5-3) at UMaine-Farmington.

Emma Dunn set up Daggett’s first goal early in the first half. Callahan Towle scored an unassisted goal about 12 minutes later to give Mt. Blue a 2-0 lead.

Daggett’s second score came in the second half on a free kick from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Cougars goalie Caitlin Burked turned away all six shots she faced, while Brewer’s Bella Tanis finished with 17 saves.

NYA 8, ST. DOMINIC 1: Angel Huntsman scored four goals, two in each half, as the top-seeded Panthers (15-0) defeated the eighth-seeded Saints (2-11-2) in a Class D South quarterfinal at Yarmouth.

Hayden Wiendkowski had a goal and a pair of assists for North Yarmouth Academy. Lea Dube, Ella Giguere and Emily Robbins each contributed a goal.

Natalie Brocke scored St. Dom’s goal.

Anna Therriault made eight saves for the Saints and Sarah Moore and Charlotte Harper-Cunningham combined to make six saves for the Panthers.

WAYNFLETE 6, MONMOUTH ACADEMY/WINTHROP 0: Lucy Hart scored three goals as the fifth-ranked Flyers (11-4) topped the fourth-seeded Mustangs (11-4) in a Class C South quarterfinal at Monmouth.

Lucy Sarno, Grace Alexander and Yen Wilson scored for Waynflete. Goalie Morgan Earls made a pair of saves.

June Foyt stopped eight shots for Monmouth/Winthrop, and Ayla Stutzman made six saves for the Flyers.

TEMPLE 4, RANGELEY 0: Dixie Szabo had a hat trick to lead No. 5 Temple to a Class D South quarterfinal win in Rangeley.

Bell-Anna Desrosiers added the other goal for Temple (8-5-2), while Mia Fitzpatrick and Sofia Isgro each had an assist. Karissa DeWitt made five saves.

Angie Woodward stopped seven shots for fourth-seeded Rangeley (8-7-0).

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 2, MT. ABRAM 1: Elise MacNair hooked up with Tessa Ferguson for the second time to break a 1-1 tie in the second half as the sixth-seeded Seagulls (10-5) knocked off the third-seeded Roadrunners (10-4-1) in a Class C South quarterfinal at Strong.

MacNair opened the scoring on Ferguson’s pass in the 20th minute for Old Orchard Beach, and Charlotte Mitchell pulled Mt. Abram even on a misplayed ball.

Ruthie Gusler recorded 10 saves for the Roadrunners.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 3, LINCOLN ACADEMY 1: Ashleen Perkins scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as the No. 11 Patriots (7-7-2) knocked off the No. 3 Eagles (8-6-1) in a Class B South quarterfinal in Newcastle.

Perkins gave Gray-New Gloucester the early lead before Lincoln Academy tied the game to send it into halftime tied 1-1.

Perkins broke the tie in the second half, and Laney Farrar scored an insurance goal with eight minutes left to play. The Patriots advance to the regional semifinals to take on No. 2 Yarmouth.
