A Lincoln County woman died Tuesday after her car collided with a dump truck on East Pond Road in Nobleboro.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 68-year-old Sharon Moody of Nobleboro. She died at the scene. The driver of the Western Star dump truck, 56-year-old Steven Levensailor of Augusta, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators said Moody’s 2009 Honda Accord was heading southbound around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when it crossed the centerline and struck the dump truck head-on. The dump truck is owned by McGee On The Road Equipment of West Gardiner. It was not loaded. Following the collision, the dump truck left the road and hit a utility pole.
Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Central Maine Power Co. crews responded and restored power to the area.
East Pond Road was closed to traffic until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
