LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday for George L. Belanger at Holy Cross Church following prayers from the Dostie Funeral Home. Monsignor Marc Caron celebrated the Mass and recited committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Employees from the Lewiston Public Works Department lined the entrance of St. Peter’s Cemetery as the procession drove by in honor of George’s 30 years of work. Members of the Maine National Guard played “taps,” folded our American Flag and presented it to George’s wife, Florence, in honor of his faithful service to his country during World War II. Pallbearers were Roger Caron, Mark Belanger, Michael Belanger, Fred Baez, Jarod Schufeldt and Jordan Schufeldt.
