DIXFIELD — Kaitlyn Frost and Holly Hunt broke through in the fourth quarter to lead the Monmouth girls basketball team to a come-from-behind win over Dirigo, 37-34, on the road Saturday.

Frost and Hunt were limited to two and three free throws, respectively, in the first three quarters, after which Monmouth trailed 25-21. In the fourth, they each made a 3-pointer and another field goal, and Frost added a couple more free throws, as the Mustangs outscored Dirigo 16-9 over the final eight minutes.

Frost and Reese Beaudoin led Monmouth with nine points each, and Hunt finished with eight. Rileigh Chase (five points) helped the Mustangs stay close by hitting their only two field goals of the first half, including a 3.

Monmouth (5-3) made 12 of 19 at the foul line. The Cougars (3-7) were 9 of 13.

Dirigo’s Jayce Brophy, who made 7 of 8 free throws, led all scorers with 11 points. Grace Robbins added seven, Diana Cayer scored six and Kallie Errington and Emily Woods contributed five apiece.

OAK HILL 50, TELSTAR 30: Peyton Gonya and Ari Thibeault shot the Raiders (4-6) past the Rebels (2-7) in Wales.

Gonya scored a game-high 16 points and Thibeault was right behind with 15.

Morgan Zetts also scored 15 points for Telstar, with Karen Marshall pitching in with 11.

MADISON 52, BUCKFIELD 27: Mackenzie Robbins scored all of her game-high 21 points in the first half and the Bulldogs (6-3) used a dominant second quarter to down the Bucks (2-8) in Buckfield.

Raegan Cowan pitched in with 10 points for Madison, which outscored Buckfield 19-0 in the second quarter.

Sarae Devoe paced the Bucks with 10 points and Kianna Finnegan added seven.

BOYS BASKETBALL
OAK HILL 57, TELSTAR 36: Ethan Vattaso and Eli Desmond combined to score 30 points and the Raiders (2-9) rallied from an early deficit to beat the Rebels (1-8) in Bethel.

Vattaso scored a game-high 16 points and Desmond dropped in 14 for Oak Hill, which trailed 15-8 after one quarter.

Wyatt Lilly paced Telstar with 13 points.

MADISON 85, BUCKFIELD 41: Callan Franzose, Deacon Murray and Ethan Linkletter each finished in double figures as the Bulldogs (4-5) pulled away from the Bucks (2-8) in Madison.

Ayden Jefferson led Buckfield with 24 points and Gavin Charest pitched in with nine.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 64, HALL-DALE 54: Lucas Towers scored a game-high 22 points, including going 7 for 9 from the free-throw line, to lead the Phoenix (9-1) past the Bulldogs (6-3) in Farmingdale.

Elie Timler and Jace Bessey pitched in with 16 and 11 points, respectively, for Spruce Mountain.

Jackson Leach scored 10 of his team-leading 16 points in the fourth quarter for Hall-Dale, which couldn’t dig out of an early 14-6 hole. Carter Borque added 10 points for the Bulldogs.

MT. BLUE 94, MORSE 45: Evans Sterling made three 3-pointers and scored 28 points to lead the Cougars to a win over the Shipbuilders in Farmington.

Zach Poisson scored 16 points, while Chandler Briggs added 13 points and Nicolo Barbieri had 10 for Mt. Blue (7-3).

Gavin Baillargeon, Trace McFarland and Caleb Sommers each scored nine points for Morse (1-10).

BOYS PREP HOCKEY
NYA 5, ACADEMIE ST. LOUIS 2: Zach Stabb scored two goals and Lewiston native Daxton St. Hilaire capped off the scoring as the Panthers beat Academie St. Louis of Quebec City on the Class of 2023’s Senior Day at Travis Roy Arena in Yarmouth.

Nolan Pecora scored the opening goal, with St. Hilaire’s twin brother, Cooper, providing the secondary assist and Grey Perham notching the primary early in the first period.

James Brogan-Provencher also scored in the first period for North Yarmouth Academy.

Stabb scored his first goal in the second period and lit the lamp again in the third.

Lewiston native Nick Pelletier tallied the secondary assist on Daxton St. Hilaire’s empty-net goal to finish off the win. Dante Ersoni delivered his second assist on the goal as well.

Euan Martin made 28 saves for NYA.
