LEWISTON — Scott Ouellette hammered out a two-run single with two outs in the first inning as undefeated Gayton (19-0) dispatched Andy Valley with a 3-1 victory in an American Legion baseball quarterfinal Thursday evening.

Gayton goes on to play Brunswick today in Lewiston at 5:30 p.m.

Gayton also collected a third run in the third inning when Mekae Hyde, who was the only repeat hitter with a double and single, scored on Corbin Hyde’s sacrifice fly. Andy Valley scored in the top of the seventh inning, but there was no doubt Gayton had the game firmly in hand.

Andy Valley pitcher James McLamb held Gayton to just five hits. Luke Cote got the win on the mound and Alex Parker got the save for Gayton.
