Sassafras Stomp will return to She Doesn’t Like Guthries in Lewiston on Friday, Aug. 19. Fiddler Johanna Davis and guitarist Adam Nordell play traditional, high-energy folk with tight vocal harmonies, driving percussion and the plunk of the five-string banjo. The two began making music together during a residency at the Montana Artist Refuge in January 2008. They toured nationally as two-thirds of a string band and developed a strong following in the Montana contradance community before their debut as Sassafras Stomp at the Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle Wash. Davis and Nordell recently moved to mid-coast Maine, where they live in a yurt and run a small farm. The show will start at 9 p.m. No cover.
