CHINA — A woman has died after sustaining fatal burns from attempts to start a fire at a China campground on Friday, officials said.
The Maine Department of Public Safety identified the woman as 46-year-old Liza Bragg from Albion.
First responders were called to D&R Campground at 109 Pellerin Road on Friday at 10:18 p.m.
Bragg reportedly suffered fatal burns from standing too close to the campfire as someone tried to start it. Officials did not specify how the individuals were attempting to start the fire or any additional details leading up to the incident.
She was transported to a local hospital, then transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland where she died.
Shannon Moss, the spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety, said the incident will be investigated by the Office of State Fire Marshal.
The incident is the second fatal fire in China in a month after 53-year-old China resident died in a structure fire on Dutton Road.
