AUBURN — A man in a wheelchair died Monday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Center Street near Target, according to a news release from the Auburn Police Department on Tuesday.
The man attempted to cross the four-lane highway around 10:36 p.m. against the flow of traffic and in an area not marked as a crossing. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center where he died of his injuries, according to the statement.
Identities of those involved are not being immediately released, and the crash remains under investigation, the statement said.
