Marie Paule (Goulet) Neveux
LEWISTON – Marie Paule Neveux, wife of the late Paul Emelien Neveux Sr., and daughter of the late Adelard and Albertine Goulet, siblings Germaine, Jeannette, Cecile, Ben, Rolande, Raynald, and twin Paulette, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, Sept. 24, 2023.
Some of her favorite memories as a young girl, was the family holiday gatherings, especially New Years Day, when her mother would make French Canadian pies and jam in their summer kitchen. She loved spending time with her family. Marie loved music and was part of a chorus with her twin sister, Paulette, in high school. Marie met her husband Paul through a mutual friend, and they married June 28, 1948.
She is survived by her children, David Neveux Sr., and his partner Andrea, Jocelyne Welch and her husband Thomas, Paul Neveux Jr. and his husband David Cheung, Denise Neveux, Gisele Cedre, Terese Neveux, Jeannine Poulin, Monique Nadeau and her husband Keith, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved dearly.
While raising her family, Marie worked various jobs including helping run the Anchor Theater in Kennebunk with her husband Paul. They moved to Massachusetts in the early 60’s, and her husband Paul started his own business, Security Alarm Systems in Rhode Island and Marie worked at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro.
In the early 80’s they settled back in Maine to be closer to family. Marie was also taking care of her mother during this time, and she was inspired to design a geriatric dress that offered more style, comfort, and privacy, and was featured in the local newspaper.
While living in Auburn, her husband Paul passed away in 1996. Marie continued to work in the Auburn area and retired at age 84 as a customer service representative for Irving Group, in Auburn. Marie was part of many fellowship groups to worship and had belonged to East Auburn Baptist Church. Marie loved to speak French and she made friends wherever she went. Marie enjoyed traveling to many places, especially to Canada with her husband and Jerusalem with a special friend.
Marie spent her final years at Woodlands Memory Care in Lewiston then Bridgton Maine, where new friends were made in her community. Staff and residents would say Marie would offer support and prayer when she felt they were in need.
Marie will rest alongside her husband Paul at the Augusta Veterans Cemetery where a private service will be held for her family.
The family invites you to a time of visitation on Friday Sept. 29, from 3-6 p.m., with a funeral service at 4:30 p.m., at The Fortin Group Funeral Home LEWISTON, 70 Horton St. A Private Committal service will take place at a later date at the Maine Veterans Cemetery.
We are grateful for the guidance from Beach Glass of Scarborough, and genuine care provided for our mother at Woodlands and Androscoggin Health/Hospice care.
