PORTLAND — The Maine Celtics are honoring those affected by the Oct. 25 mass shooting with a “Lewiston Strong Night” theme during the Dec. 16 game against College Park at the Portland Expo.
During the game, the Portland-based G League team will wear uniforms featuring the Lewiston High School colors and Lewiston’s zip code, 04240. There will also be recognition of survivors and community members who are helping uplift those affected.
Also, the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation will make a $50,000 donation on behalf of the Boston and Maine Celtics to the LA Metro Chamber Foundation.
“After lengthy discussions with leadership in the Lewiston community, we are more than happy to announce this theme night,” Maine Celtics President Dajuan Eubanks said in a news release. “The people of Lewiston are our fans and our family. They are an important fabric of our community. We look forward to celebrating with them on Dec. 16.”
Tickets are available online at fevo-enterprise.com/event/Lewistonstrong5. From each ticket purchased through that link, $10 will be donated to the LA Metro Chamber Foundation.
Beside Lewiston Strong Night, the Maine Celtics will continue to show their support for the Lewiston community by wearing a blue Lewiston strip on their regular home and away uniforms. There will also be a “Lewiston Strong” banner at the Portland Expo in the north section for the duration of the season.
