SOUTH PARIS — Austin Shute and Tyler Truman each scored goals to lift Oxford Hills to a 2-0 win over Cony in KVAC boys’ soccer Wednesday.

Matt Beauchesne had an assist for the Vikings (2-4). Aaron Crockett had just one save for the Vikings, which outshot the Rams (1-6) 24-3. Cony’s Brandon Elwell made 21 saves.

Mt. Blue 1, Erskine 0

CHINA — Max Richard scored with 17 minutes left in the second half to lift Mt. Blue to a 1-0 win over Erskine Wednesday in KVAC boys’ soccer.

Blake Hart assisted on the game-winner for the Cougars (4-2). Matt Crowley had four saves in the shutout for Mt. Blue, which was outshot 8-6 by the Eagles (3-3-2). Ryan Pulver had three saves for Erskine.

Lisbon 8, Winthrop 0
LISBON —  Ryan Fairbanks registered a hat trick Wednesday to lead Lisbon to a 8-0 romp over Winthrop in MVC boys’ soccer action.

Mason Smith chipped in for Dan Sylvester’s powerhouse Greyhounds (5-1) with two goals, while single tallies from Brady Fenderson, Justin Grant and Joe Osmond completed the scoring.

Shane Tanguay needed only two saves to record the shutout, while Cam MacMillan turned aside 15 shots between the posts for Winthrop (0-5-1).

Mt. View 6, Leavitt 0

TURNER — Zoli Kertesz scored back-to-back goals as Mt. View rolled over Leavitt with a 6-0 victory in a boys’ soccer game Wednesday afternoon.

Mt. View built a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Tim Bennett and Bryan Jungels before exploding with four goals in the second half.

James Philbrick and Jack Simpson rounded out the scoring for Mt. Blue.

Field hockey

Winthrop 2, Dirigo 1
DIXFIELD —   Rachel Ingram found the net by herself 15 minutes into the second half to lift Winthrop to a 2-1 win over Dirigo in a MVC field hockey tilt Wednesday.

The two squads were tied at 1-1 after the first half following goals by Lauren Kaiser (Winthrop) and Brittany Lapointe (Dirigo).

Alyssa Arsenault made three saves to notch the win, while Betsy Noyes turned back eight shots in the cage for Dirigo. 

Lisbon 8, St. Dom’s 0
LISBON —   Arianna Kahler recorded a hat trick Wednesday to lead Lisbon to a 8-0 rout over St. Dom’s in a lopsided MVC field hockey matchup.

Sarah Craig chipped in for the well-oiled Greyhounds (6-1) with two goals, while single tallies from Angel Strout, Lindsey Whitney and Olivia Harrington completed the scoring.

Devon Brewer and Breanna Moore split time in the cage for Lisbon, with nary a save needed for the shutout. Jenna Fongemie turned aside an impressive 26 shots for St. Dom’s as Lisbon’s offense showed no mercy.

Sacopee Valley 4, Poland 1

POLAND — Danielle Pierce scored a pair of goals and Sacopee Valley outshot Poland, 31-3, as the Hawks (4-2) glided off with a 4-1 victory in a field hockey game Wednesday.

 The Hawks reeled off three goals in the first half when Pierce, Chelsey Burnell and Anissa Dan each scored a goal. Pierce added another goal in the second half at 16:09.

The Knights (0-5-1) got on the board when Mimi Carmichael scooped a rebound and scored 12:24 remaining in the second half.

Monmouth 2, Wiscasset 0

MONMOUTH — Ashley Coulombe gave the Mustangs a strong head start with a goal only five minutes into the contest and Kylie Kemp bent in a shot on a corner kick later in the first half to lead Monmouth to a 2-0 victory over Wiscasset in MVC soccer action Wednesday.

Natalie Young was strong in the cage for the Mustangs (5-2), making three stops for the shutout victory. Kasey Cromwell stopped six Monmouth shots for Wiscasset (2-5).

Hebron 1, Proctor 1

HEBRON — Junior Emily Wyman pumped in a penalty kick to give Hebron Academy (0-0-1) a 1-0 lead, but Proctor Academy responded with its goal in the second half as the two teams played to a 1-1 tie in a girls’ soccer game Wednesday.

In the second half, Hebron’s Jenna Bosse crossed into the middle, but a Proctor player was called for a handball penalty, allowing Wyman to punch in the first goal of the game.

Proctor responded 10 minutes later when Hebron failed to clear a goal kick and Proctor’s Brooke Ellis scored on a Breanna Davis assist to knot the game.

Mountain Valley 2, Spruce Mountain 1
RUMFORD —  Jamaica Ford converted a sweet pass from Sarah Klein just five minutes into the second half to lift Mountain Valley to a 2-1 victory over Spruce Mountain in a MVC girl’s soccer tilt Wednesday.

Kaitlyn Virgin gave the Falcons (2-4-1) a 1-0 advantage late in the first frame. Brittany Carrier tallied for the Phoenix with an assist from Lexi Deering.

Kaitlin Armstrong made 12 saves for Mountain Valley, while Emily Keene turned aside nine shots in the cage for Spruce Mountain.

Hall-Dale 4, Lisbon 1
FARMINGDALE —   Carylanne Wolfington led a three-goal attack in the second half that propelled Hall-Dale to a 4-1 victory over Lisbon in more MVC girl’s soccer action Wednesday.

Wolfington led the Bulldogs (4-3) with a hat trick, while Shelby McGibney’s goal early in the second half completed the scoring.

Renee Samay netted the Greyhounds’ (4-1-1) lone goal with an assist from Brooke Lawrence. Olivia Maynard made five saves for Hall-Dale, while Alexa Harmon turned back nine shots for Lisbon.

Mt. Blue 2, Erskine 2

SOUTH CHINA —   The Mt. Blue and Erskine girls’ soccer squads battled through two halves and two overtime sessions Wednesday, yet settled for a 2-2 deadlock as another late-summer day drew to a close.

Cherokee Clements and Rachel Karno each scored a goal for the Cougars (3-2-1), while Baylee Doughty and Alyssa Gartley tallied for the Eagles (3-2-2).

Gabby Foy had an eventful contest, getting injured slightly on Erskine’s first goal. After Zyrah Giustra did a fine job in substitution, Foy returned to action in the closing minutes feeling much better.

St. Dom’s 3, Carrabec 0

NORTH ANSON — Kayla McLellan scored a pair of goals as St. Dom’s dispatched winless Carrabec with a 3-0 victory in a girls’ soccer game Wednesday.

Kayla McLellan teamed up with twin sister Kelley and scored on her feed in the first half.

Marley Byrne gave the Saints (5-2) a two-goal cushion when she scored on Courtney Costello’s feed in the second half. Kayla McLellan polished off St. Dom’s victory with her unassisted goal. Saints goalie Mary Caron made three saves to preserve her shutout.

Women’s soccer

UMF 2, Thomas 1

FARMINGTON — Ava Amador and Kayla Tuttle each netted a second-half goal as the University of Maine at Farmington slipped away from Thomas College with a 2-1 victory in North Atlantic Conference action Wednesday at Prescott Field.

 Despite being outshot 37-6 in the match, the Terriers held a 1-0 lead at intermission. Arian Kumlangnam gave Thomas its advantage by lofting a high-arcing shot out of the reach of UMF keeper Beth Lebel of Lewiston at 12:45. Thomas nearly had a two-goal command at the break when Terissa Ridge of Rumford went just high of the goal.

 Amador, whose post shot was the Beavers’ best opening-half bid, was the beneficiary of a superb individual effort by Abbey Gilbert in tying the game. Gilbert made her way through three defenders and slid a pass in front of the goalmouth that Amador deposited to tie the contest at 1-1 at 59:12.

Tuttle gave the hosts a 2-1 lead after chipping in a Renee Dupre pass over the head and glancing off the fingertips of Thomas keeper Kate Thibodeau at 68:27.
