In the March 15th issue of The Rangeley Highlander, The article, “Rangeley Selectmen Meeting Addresses Healthcare Concerns and Community Issues” stated that Dr. King underscored Franklin Memorial Hospital’s downgrade from a Level 2 to a Level 3 facility. Ryan Mastrangelo, Franklin Community Health Network Director of Communications & Public Affairs, responded that Franklin Memorial Hospital is not a trauma facility that is rated in this way. In addition, the article stated that “Franklin Memorial often transfers patients to Central Maine Hospital or Maine Med in Portland. Like many hospitals, these hospitals frequently operate at a “Code Help” or “Capacity Disaster” status capacity designation.” Mastrangelo also responded by saying that while Franklin Memorial Hospital does transfer patients it is not often due to emergency capacity statuses, as mentioned.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
