Students from Sharon Hathaway’s “Exploring River Valley” class planted six trees at three Turner schools with a $1,000 Project Canopy Assistance Grant. The Maine Forest Service and GrowSmart Maine awarded grants to governments, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations to support community forestry projects. Hathaway said the “Exploring River Valley” class is designed so students can gain an appreciation of natural and agricultural resources.
