A 6-year-old New Jersey girl died at Maine Medical Center on Wednesday, four days after she was injured by a badminton racket while playing outside with her 10-year-old brother.
Lucy Morgan and her family, who are from Stockholm, New Jersey, were vacationing in southern Maine when the accident happened in Limerick on June 1.
Investigators found the girl was unintentionally injured by her brother when the aluminum shaft of a badminton racket came off the wooden handle, striking her in the head and piercing her skull, a Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson said on Friday.
Lucy was transported to Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford, then airlifted by LifeFlight of Maine to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
