DEAR SUN SPOTS: Does anyone take donations of eyeglasses, even if the frames are broken? — Barbara, no town

ANSWER: Yes. Bring the eyeglasses to a drop box at a Lions Club Eyeglass Recycling Center. You can find these at most eyeglass centers, eye doctors’ offices and at Walmart. Your local Goodwill and Salvation Army might also be an option, but call first to check.

Eyeglasses with broken lenses are not usually accepted.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a Sony compact disc player (it holds 300 CDs) that needs repair. I am wondering if you have a name of someone in Auburn who can help? — Rudy, Mechanic Falls

ANSWER: I do not have a company in Auburn in the Rolodex, but perhaps a reader will know of someone. I can recommend contacting New England Hi-Fi in South Portland (www.newenglandhifi.com or 207-747-5371). It might be able to repair it or replace the component that is no longer working.

Sony might be able to assist you. Here is a link to Sony support: www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00027417.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was playing cribbage last week and my crib had 9, 8, 8, 8, 7.  The official directions of how to play has a list of just about all possible combinations, but not this one. I would like to know if the correct score is 30. — No name, no town

ANSWER: Cribbage experts, help us out here. I have not played cribbage in years. The highest score you can have in one hand is 29, right? And the above combination equals 30. Please share your knowledge.
