AUBURN — A 34-year-old transient was charged Tuesday with stabbing a Lewiston man in the abdomen near TD Bank at 10 Great Falls Plaza.
Auburn police wrote in a Facebook post that the 23-year-old man walked into the bank at noon asking for help for a stab wound. He was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for the injury, which was not considered life threatening.
Shortly after arriving at the scene at 12:04 p.m., police canvassed the area around the bank and located Walter Hawkins, who was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and violating conditions of release in connection with the stabbing, according to the post.
Hawkins was transported to Androscoggin County Jail where he will remain without bail until he appears before a judge.
