I read editorials and letters just about every day, and I’ve come to the conclusion that some people just aren’t happy: The governor said this, the Senate didn’t do that … whine, whine, whine.

A while back, a local newspaper came out with a positive article about my family’s sauce recipe. That was a shot in the arm.

The following day, I was leveled by a heart attack and whisked away to Central Maine Medical Center for 11 days.

After more than a week home, I have to ponder about the luck of the draw. My luck was simply having the best team of surgeons, doctors, technicians, nurses and specialists that I’ve ever seen. They didn’t just monitor and operate, they cared, they nurtured me back to a new lease on life.

Friends from away visited — a former employer, cardiac volunteers, my wife (several times).

I was eager to leave the hospital and, when I did, I missed the place.

So, I’m going back — just to visit, to say hi and thank the most caring human beings I’ve ever met.

Now, for those people who are thinking of writing a letter to the editor — think about how lucky you are to be able to whine. Someday, just maybe, you will find something good in your life that will make you happy.
