LEWISTON — Rita M. Galipeau, 87, of Lewiston, died Monday, Oct. 17, at d’Youville Pavilion, after a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 11, 1924, the daughter of the late Philipp and Emilia (Therrien) Pratt. Rita worked in the local shoe industry as a hand presser, working at both Clark Shoe and Androscoggin Mill. She was married to Leonard Galipeau, who died in 1984. She was a member of Holy Family Church and enjoyed arts and crafts.
She is survived by three sisters, Annette Hamman, Marie-Ange Roy and her husband, Donald and Lorraine Roy, all of Lewiston; one brother, Gerard Pratt and his wife, Monique, of Lewiston; and several stepchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Pratt and Jeanne Ayotte; and three brothers; Roland, Bert and Roger Pratt.
