BREWSTER, N.Y. — Paul A Flaherty Jr. “Bud,” 68, passed away on Oct. 14, surrounded by his family.

He was born Jan. 31, 1941, the only child to Paul A Flaherty and Helen Marshman Flaherty. On June 9, 1973, Bud married Marie H. Augustine of Durham.

Bud grew up in Portland, Deering High School Class of 1961. At the University of Maine at Orono, he received a bachelor’s degree in history in 1965, and a master’s degree in 1966. He was teacher at North Yarmouth Academy for 41 rewarding years. Bud retired in May 2008, and later moved to Brewster, N.Y., to live with his daughter, Dorene and her husband, John Battles and their two children, Shane, 3, and Monica, 17 months.
