LISBON — The Lisbon Water Department confirmed Monday morning that it has recently fielded several complaints about water quality.

Shellie Reynolds, interim general manager for Lisbon Water Department, confirmed the department has had a few reports of brown water. Water department personnel visited several residences to collect water samples.
An investigation into the quality of water is ongoing.
The news comes after a do-not-drink order was issued in August to make repairs to a failed check valve at the water plant, which was allowing backwash into the system. While fears of elevated arsenic were put to rest by water tests, an engineering report found elevated lead levels in 630 lines of the department’s 3,418 service lines.
Complaints arose again in December despite the engineering report concluding Lisbon’s water plant is in good condition. Frequent water main breaks, hard-water issues and do-not-drink orders still have customers concerned.
