LEWISTON — A strong seventh-inning surge propelled the Edward Little softball team over Lewiston 6-3 on Wednesday.

Kassidy Lobb’s double brought two runners home during the three-run, tie-breaking seventh inning. The Blue Devils led for the majority of the game, but the Red Eddies tied it up 3-3 in the sixth inning.

“I felt like I needed to help myself out, and so I was just looking for my pitch, and I found it,” said Lobb, who also pitched for the Eddies. “I just wanted to make sure we did well on the field, but I had some insurance runs, so it felt good.”

STATISTICAL LEADERS

Edward Little: Kassidy Lobb (double, two RBI; struck out eight on the mound); Kylee Lebrun (two RBI, two hits, two runs), Lexi Kelsea (two runs).

Lewiston: Isabella Enos (two runs, two hits), Elsie Cloutier (two RBI); Ava Dionne (nine strikeouts).

THEY SAID IT

• “Ava (Dionne) keeps us on our toes, she has for four years. We talked a lot about her curveball, her changeup, and how we needed to sit on everything. She’s a competitor, but we did enough in the end to pull it out.” — Edward Little coach Elaine Derosby.

• “We never hung our heads when we had a miscue or whatever, nobody got down on each other. Everybody picked each other up. It was just positive the entire game, and you’ve got to give my team credit for that, because in high school sports, that’s difficult to maintain a positive atmosphere.” — Lewiston coach Ryan Cormier
