DEAR SUN SPOTS: The J & O Irish Museum on Main Street (Route 140) in Hartford is now open for the summer on Sunday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. all through July and August.

Our next fundraiser will be the Antique Auto Show on Saturday, Aug. 23, at the East Sumner Congregational Church so, please mark your calendars.

Come join us with your antique auto, or just to check out the ones that show up. We had over 50 cars come last year. No entrance fee is charged and the top four, chosen by the attendees, will go home with a basket of homemade jams, relishes and bread.

Thank you, Sun Spots, for all the publicity that you give to the Hartford Heritage Society, as we continue to restore the J & O Irish Museum. Also, thank you to everyone out there who joins us for all our fundraising projects.

ANSWER: This historic building was once one of the first stores in the area. It is now used by the Hartford Historical Society as a museum for their collections.

The folks at the museum are always looking for donations, such as antique tools for the barn and items for the store, especially old spice containers or anything that you think would look good on the shelves. The building was a general store that closed in 1953 with living quarters on the second and third floors.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for publishing last month’s notice about University of Southern Maine’s OT Department offering LSVT BIG, an evidence-based therapy program for adults with Parkinson’s disease. This movement-based program is designed to improve mobility, balance, and confidence in daily life.

Readers, we still have two open spots we are looking to fill for the July session!

One-on-one sessions take place at the USM Community Clinic in Lewiston, are led by certified student providers under clinical supervision, and are offered at no cost.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Because it’s summer, I wanted to put in a word about children and their lemonade stands. I love to see this and stop whenever I can and give them a good tip. Their enthusiasm and smiles are just priceless and that means the world to me.

It brings back memories of when my sister and I sold lemonade back in the ’60s for 5 cents for a little paper cupful. (Now it’s a dollar but that’s OK.) One of our best customers was the mail carrier. We wore matching summer dresses made by our mother and also sold pencils as the new school year came along. We didn’t get rich but we sure had fun. — Cynthia, no town

ANSWER: Thank you for the cute story. You all can send me your memories whenever you want. I love it!
