DEAR SUN SPOTS: Join us as we mark an exciting new chapter — Gather to Grow.
Come together with friends, old and new, to celebrate the power of community, collaboration and shared purpose. We will reflect on the work that led us to this moment, honor the community that helped us reach this milestone, and look towards our collective future.
This will be a space to build connection, solidarity, and joy — just like we’ve always done, and will continue to do, together.
We will be gathering at 208 Bates St. on Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Our rain date is Thursday, Aug. 7 at the same time and location.
There will be delicious food featuring seasonal ingredients prepared by Haali’s Halaal, a burgeoning catering business dedicated to providing high-quality, fully halal meals.
Please RSVP by Monday, July 28, to help us with food preparation and dietary considerations.
Look for future email(s) with a more detailed schedule of the evening and/or a rain plan. We can’t wait to see you there! With gratitude — The Gather to Grow Team, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The annual August services of the Minot Center Historical Church at 529 Center Minot Hill Rd. in Minot (previously known as the Minot Center Congregational Church), will be held at 9 a.m. every Sunday in August.
Services will be led by Frances Lodge, Pastor of the West Minot Union Church. Daniel Burgess will serve as organist and pianist for all services as well as soloist on Aug. 3.
Marge Muise will provide a flute solo Aug. 10. The soloist on Aug. 17 will be Christine McLaughlin and on Aug. 24, the soloist will be Darlene Morrill. Soloist Christie Paul will close the season on Aug. 31.
The original church was built in 1805 but was torn down and rebuilt in 1846. Services have continued there since, in recent years, only for a month in the summer and the last Sunday in December.
The Church was deeded to the Minot Historical Society in August 2017 and the name was changed to reflect this.
The home of the Society (The Elijah Jones House) is across the street at 493 Center Minot Hill Rd. The house will be open for visitors after services on Aug. 3 and 31, and on other Sundays from 1-3 p.m. All are welcome. — Sylvia, Minot
