Will Watson allowed two hits over 5 2/3 innings as the Binghamton Rumble Ponies blanked the Portland Sea Dogs 1-0 in the final game of their season-ending series Sunday in Binghamton, New York.
Watson (2-2, 3.44 ERA) struck out nine batters and walked two. A.J. Ewing scored the game’s only run in the first inning when Jacob Reimer grounded into a double play.
Drew Ehrhard had two of Portland’s three hits. Dalton Rogers (4-5, 3.52) allowed four hits, struck out eight batters and walked two in five innings, and Michael Sansone pitched three innings of one-hit relief for the Sea Dogs (64-71).
Binghamton (90-46) advances to the Eastern League playoffs.
