AUBURN — One candidate for the City Council Ward 5 seat outspent his opponent and everyone else seeking city office in the Nov. 8 election, according to campaign spending reports filed with the City Clerk’s office this week.

Leroy Walker spent $1,425 on signs, ads and brochures, paid out of a $2,000 campaign budget that came entirely from Walker’s own pocket.

His opponent, Evan Cyr, spent $195 on campaign materials, all from his pocket.

Ward 1 candidate Tizz Crowley spent $841 for her signs and campaign literature. Cash contributions accounted for about $575 of her spending.

Unopposed mayoral candidate Jonathan LaBonte spent $653.63 on campaign materials but picked up $1,040 in donations. Donors included local lawyer Bryan Dench.

In the race for Auburn’s at-large council seat, candidate Joshua Shea raised the most cash, with $935 in donations. Candidate Jeremiah Bartlett raised $462 and incumbent Belinda Gerry raised $60. Candidates Ron Potvin and Michael Lemay reported no campaign donations.
