Randan Hutchinson rushed for two touchdowns and Leavitt rode another stellar defensive performance to a 34-0 win over Messalonskee in an interclass football game Friday in Oakland.

A week after Leavitt (5-2) shut down previously undefeated Gardiner in a clash of Class C contenders, the Hornets were equally dominant against Class B Messalonskee (3-4).

Brody Poland opened the scoring with a 23-yard run in the first quarter. Hutchinson made it 14-0 in the second quarter with the first of his two 5-yard TD runs.

In the third, Nick Mellen took a short pass from Landon Marquis and rambled into the end zone for a 26-yard TD. Hutchinson and Landen Reny (15 yards) tacked on scoring runs in the fourth.

Hutchinson gained 110 yards on 16 carries.

DEERING 24, OXFORD HILLS 20: Joey Foley scored two rushing touchdowns, including the go-ahead TD late in the third quarter, and the Rams (3-4) beat the Vikings (3-4) in a Class A North contest in Portland.

With Deering backed up deep in its own territory late in the third quarter, quarterback Jordan DiBiase connected over the middle with Corbin Burke for what turned into an 88-yard reception. Foley scored from the 2 on the following play, giving the Rams a 24-20 lead.

The Vikings were driving in the final minute of the fourth quarter until Elijah Stewart intercepted a Dylan Truman pass.

Oxford Hills jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, thanks to TD runs of 17 yards by Keegan Ridley and 1 yard by Truman.

Foley scored from the 4 for Deering’s first TD early in the second quarter, and Burke caught a 25-yard pass from DiBiase to cut the Rams’ deficit to 14-12.

Then, with Oxford Hills moving the ball near midfield, Burke ripped the ball out of the hands of Truman on a running play and took it 54 yards for a go-ahead touchdown.

Oxford Hills regained the lead before halftime when Jackson Stack caught a 2-yard pass from Truman.

DIRIGO 32, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: The Cougars (5-2) returned a punt and two interceptions for scores and allowed only 110 yards of total offense in a shutout win over the rival Falcons (0-7) in Dixfield.

Owen Smith returned a punt 68 yards and an interception 52 yards for touchdowns. He also led a balanced running attack with 63 yards on five carries, as six Dirigo ballcarriers combined to gain 211 yards on 34 carries.

Trevor Crosby also scored two TDs for the Cougars, a 10-yard interception return and a 5-yard pass from Brady Philbrick (11 for 17, 105 yards; nine carries, 44 yards). Gio Patterson scored Dirigo’s final touchdown on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Crosby also led the Cougars with 10 tackles, and Kaeden Swan had a quarterback sack.

Mountain Valley’s Josh Pollis caught three passes for 42 yards and finished with a team-best10 tackles — nine solo and four for losses — and had a sack. Kegan Jordan returned a kick 74 yards, Landon Theriault had an interception and a sack, Cole Curtis intercepted a pass and Kristian Azcona tallied a QB sack for the Falcons.

LAKE REGION 37, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6: Jayden Cote rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns, and Matthew Mansulla scored three times while gaining 131 yards for the Lakers (4-3) in a win over the Patriots (3-4) at Gray.
