DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are excited to announce our next Pause For Pets Craft and Vendor Fair to benefit our community’s pets and the lifesaving work of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society. The event will be at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave., Sunday, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year we will feature our largest lineup ever of exhibitors, offering a wide variety of items for your whole family, including your favorite furry friend!
In addition, we will be joined by Healthy Androscoggin, and we’ll have our famous GAHS raffles and face painting. Raffle tickets can be purchased to win prizes donated by our exhibitors, and a 50/50 raffle will be held. There will also be a free door prize drawing for all attendees.
Volunteers and staff will be on hand to offer information about the shelter’s programs and services. It’s also the perfect time to ask about getting involved with the shelter yourself. The GAHS information table will feature an assortment of shelter swag to help you show your support of the work we do.
We will be collecting physical donations to support animals in care and for our Pet Pantry. The biggest needs are cat food, litter, bleach, paper towels, high efficiency laundry detergent, soft pet treats and training treats for dogs.
Admission is free and the building is handicapped accessible. Plenty of parking is available. Unfortunately, privately owned pets are not permitted. — Shannon, no town
ANSWER: Go to https://gahumane.org/ if you need more information or can’t make it to the fair. You’ll want to check out the featured, and other, pets. At this writing, there’s even a bunny!
There are also online options to donate items and money, plus several choices for ways to volunteer. Winter is coming and getting involved in a nonprofit will be so good for you. I’ll see you at the event on the 2nd! And remember, leave Rover and Fluffy at home!
