Payton Rose sparked a third-quarter surge by scoring nine of her 12 points as Poland rallied for a 50-44 win over Lake Region in a Class B South girls basketball game Thursday in Poland.

Alivia Lemieux led Poland (2-1) with 14 points, and Maddison Bosse added 11. The Knights trailed 23-19 at halftime, then took control by outscoring Lake Region 22-8 in the third quarter.

Samantha Jones (12 points) and Alison Bourgoin (nine) of Lake Region (0-2) combined for seven 3-pointers.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 62, LEAVITT 13: Ella Kennedy scored 20 points to lead the Patriots (3-0) to a win over the Hornets (2-1) in Gray.

Bryn Gilmore added 15 points and Abbey Steele chipped in 10 for Gray-New Gloucester.

Sophia Poulin scored six points for Leavitt.

OAK HILL 51, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 21: Freshmen Grace Lough and Scarlett Mooney combined for 40 points in the Raiders’ (2-0) home win over the Falcons (0-3) in Wales.

Lough led the way with 22 points and Mooney put up 18. Both players made a pair of 3-pointers.

Madison Blanchard was Mountain Valley’s top scorer with 10 points.

SACOPEE VALLEY 50, TELSTAR 20: Charlotte Cyr scored a game-high 15 points, including two 3-pointers during 15-0 second-quarter run that help the visiting Hawks (1-2) defeat the Rebels (0-3) in Bethel.

Divinity Smith added 11 points and Mirielle Bridges had eight for Sacopee Valley, which led 25-9 at halftime.

Brooklyn Deprey scored five points, while Vivienne Charette, Ayva Jeselskis and Addisyn Kimball each had four for Telstar.

LISBON 33, WATERVILLE 32: Hannah Perron scored 16 points to lead the Greyhounds (2-1) past the Panthers (0-3) in Lisbon.

Liz Ferero added 12 points for Lisbon.

Danikah Harrison, Roselyn Martin and Hailey Snipe each finished with seven points for Waterville.

WINTHROP 50, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 43: Kylee Mansir scored 12 of her 15 points in the second half as the Ramblers (2-1) overcame a 28-14 halftime deficit against the Seagulls (1-2) in Old Orchard Beach.

Evelyn Mortimer contributed 12 points, and Bella Baehr and Kylee Savage each had nine for Winthrop, which climbed back into the game with an 18-7 edge in the third quarter, then closed out the comeback with an 18-8 advantage in the fourth.

Corinne Androkitis led the Seagulls with 18 points. Androkitis and Megan Dow (11 points) each made three 3-pointers.

BOYS BASKETBALL

OAK HILL 61, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 49: Keeghan Morrissette led the Raiders (1-1) with 17 points in a victory over the Falcons (0-3) in Rumford.

Braden Dubuc chipped in with 12 points and PJ Smith finished with 10.

Blake Small led Mountain Valley with 20 points.

WINTHROP 53, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 49: Graham Huri paced the Ramblers (2-1) with 16 points in a win over the Seagulls (1-2) in Winthrop.

Joshua Foster added 14 and Korbin Littler chipped in with 11.

Trot Moody recorded 24 points for the Seagulls.

SACOPEE VALLEY 55, TELSTAR 50: Silas Nielsen scored five of his 24 points in overtime as the Hawks (3-0) survived a big second-half comeback by the Rebels (0-3) in Hiram.

Nielsen also grabbed 14 rebounds, but Sacopee needed overtime to pull out the win after Telstar erased a 29-13 halftime deficit.

The Hawks were 4 for 4 from the field in overtime.

Telstar’s Connor Deprey scored 20 of his 24 points after halftime. Alex Doughty added 11 points.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 87, MT. ABRAM 57: Levi Laverdiere fueled a first-half outburst with 17 of his 25 points, and the Mustangs (1-2) rolled past the visiting Roadrunners (2-1) in a clash of expected Class D South contenders.

Laverdiere scored 13 points in the second quarter, including three 3-pointers, as Monmouth turned a 19-8 lead after one quarter into a 48-21 advantage at halftime.

Gavin Parsons added 22 points, including four 3-pointers. Tyler Day chipped in with 12 points.

Brennan Mitchell was the lone Roadrunner in double figures, with 22 points.

LAKE REGION 65, POLAND 54: Cooper Smith led the way for the Lakers (1-1) with 18 points in a win over the Knights (1-2) in Poland.

Reid Plummer contributed 15 points to the win, and Jacoby Bardsley and Braydan Wilson finished with nine points apiece for Lake Region.

Poland’s Damon Martin led all scorers with 19 points.

LISBON 61, WATERVILLE 55: Owen Hurd paced the Greyhounds (2-1) with 26 points in a win over the Panthers (0-3) in Waterville.

Jaxson Roy-Thompson chipped in 20 points for Lisbon.

Simeon Thorne and Derek Couture each finished with 16 points for Waterville, while Eli Cullen scored 12.

LEAVITT 68, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 62: Darren Flagg scored eight of his 21 points in overtime of the Hornets’ (2-1) victory over the Patriots (2-1) in Turner.

All three of Leavitt’s games this season have gone to overtime. Brody Poland (three) and Flagg (one) combined to hit four consecutive 3-pointers to force overtime, then Flagg opened the extra period with two more treys. The Hornets iced the win by making 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch.

Flagg finished with five 3-pointers. Poland made four 3s and scored 17 points. Colin Scholbohm contributed 13 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, five steals and three blocks, while Jacob Gibbs (two 3s) added 10 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

Carter Davis hit four treys and led Gray-New Gloucester with 17 points. Isaiah Portas scored 15 points and Quentin Warrick had 13.

GIRLS HOCKEY

BIDDEFORD CO-OP 2, EDWARD LITTLE CO-OP 0: Freshmen Florence Radford and Ashley Davis each scored for Biddeford/Thornton/Kennebunk in its victory over Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Oxford Hills at Biddeford Ice Arena.

Ashley Sanderson and Sophia Auger recorded assists for the Biddeford co-op. Goalie Mariah Villandry earned the shutout.

Biddeford (5-1) is ranked third in the Varsity Maine poll, while the Red Hornets (4-1) are No. 1.

WEDNESDAY’S BOYS HOCKEY

WINDHAM 3, EDWARD LITTLE 2: Mason Caron scored his second goal of the game in overtime, lifting Windham/Westbrook/Bonny Eagle/Sacopee Valley (1-1) to a victory over the Red Eddies (1-1) at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn. 

Caron’s first goal came in the second period. Nolan Perkins scored in the third period for the Windham co-op, and Sawyer Perkins stopped 23 shots for the Trail Blazers. 

Nolan Heath and Breccan Albert each had a goal and an assist for Edward Little. Red Eddies goalie Caden Westhoven made 12 saves.
